Iries Caribbean Cafe

by Rich S » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:33 pm

I discovered Iries today during an unsuccessful search for an Indian restaurant I’d heard was at the old Quartermaster Depot in Jeffersonville. (There’s a Chaat Cafe Indian Food sign over an empty storefront; I couldn’t tell if the Indian place had closed or never opened.)

Right next door, however, was Iries Caribbean Cafe, which I believe opened a few months ago. I know very little about Caribbean food, so I can’t say how authentic it is, but I enjoyed the curry chicken and rice with pigeon peas I had (although it was a bit of a challenge to eat the chicken with a flimsy plastic fork).

They had a steam table with about a half dozen different entrees, and maybe eight sides, including a couple kinds of rice and some vegetables (most entrees come with two sides).

The menu’s available at their website: http://www.iriescafe.com

It's a shame it's in a foreign country, however the menu looks good enough to make the trek from Fern Creek.
