vegetarian visitors - picks for Lou-Lex?

by Joel F » Sun Jun 02, 2013 11:22 am

Hi,

We have visitors coming, probably dining out on June 5 (which rules out Holly Hill Inn).

Looking for vegetarian friendly picks in Louisville, Lexington or points in between.

Roots, VK, Ethiopian, Bombay are all on the radar but don't be shy about posting suggestions -- nothing is obvious / assumed. We're more interested in good food than a fancy dining room.

thanks.

On Tuesday (for future reference) the Silver Dollar runs a great, and I mean great, changeable veg special.
But I'd take your friends to Roots.

Roots on the left, Heart & Soy on the right, both awesome. Most of the Indian places have great veggie options, too. Dakshin and Bombay Palace are my current favorites, although Little India in Hikes Point is worth a mention, and Sitar on Bardstown was during pretty darn well in the lunch buffet department. last time I was there.

We went to Mayan Cafe Friday night for our anniversary. I got a fabulous dragon fruit salad appetizer and chose 4 veggies for my dinner. They were all vegan. Just in case your visitors wants a non-Asian choice. ;)

Earth Friends Cafe in NuLu
Feast BBQ in New Albany
Dragon King's Daughter (I have only been to the New Albany location but I enjoy their vegetarian sushi rolls)

Hope your friends like BBQ tofu, or else I wouldn't take them to Feast. I think their bbq tofu is excellent, but it is the one vegetarian option at a bbq joint.

Hillbilly Tea has good vegetarian options for entrees and vegan stuff for dessert, I second Mayan Cafe, Havanna Rumba does good vegetarian stuff, as well as Eiderdown. Ramsis used to always be my go to back when I was on the veg.
