They've been up for sale for months now.

Thanks for info, Doug. I obviously don't get over there as much as I used to.

It has been for sale since at least early February. I noticed it the same time I saw that Smokehouse BBQ in Fern Creek was also for sale.

I hate to tell you, but...

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19850&p=148544&hilit=cottage+inn#p148544

It was posted last August too!

The owner is retiring. Decent food, but I never liked the service- it appeared no one liked working there (at least the ones I saw)!

Senior moment, d'oh!

(To my credit, though, Houston really did just circulate the announcement yesterday ... )

FWIW if someone wants to take over a bar, The Third Base in Jeffersonville is closing. Apparently not for lack of customers.... they have plenty of those. Some may question whether they're the right customers though. That being said it's a cool building and I think it's been a bar for about 100 years. I hear it's in the County Sheriff's sale and I suspect someone with a really good concept could make a go of it with that building.

I've always thought "The Third Base" was a great name for a bar. I imagine a baseball themed bar would likely have too narrow an appeal but I'd go watch some games at The Third Base.

If they had good beer and TVs.....and occasionally played Meatloaf!
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way

I just called Smokehouse BBQ...they are still in business, and the woman I spoke to knew nothing of the rumor!!!!

I'd eaten there in Feb. and unfortunately haven't since then because I started suffering from gallstones and had a cholecystectomy almost 2 months ago now. I'm ready to go back to Smokehouse sometime again soon!!!!

Could you possibly be thinking of the old Our Best?

I contacted Smokehouse via their website with a link to the forum and the link you posted. Hopefully we will get some clarification! From the ad, it sounds like they want to change ownership somewhat seamlessly and not shut the whole thing down!
