Italian Suggestin

by Trisha W » Sat May 11, 2013 3:42 pm

I find myself wanting Italian, but not wanting to get real dressed up nor do I want to spend a forturne. Suggestions?

Hi, Trish! You ran into me "outside" before I got here, but looking for friendly family-style Italian that won't break your budget, I came up with Di Fabio's, Le Gallo Rosso and Amici. I think you might be headed for Gallo. Mangia bene!

Come Back Inn would work, too! A little more Italian-American but maybe even cheaper. 8)

Depending on where you live, Martini's in the Summit is now a "local" place if I remember, and it fits the bill.

Le Gallo really needs to address the way they take reservations. I called the first time at about 1, left a message. Called at 3:30, left another message. Called at 4, before leaving for Louisville, and left another message. Rick called at 4:30, and left a message. NONE of those calls were returned. NONE.

We showed up at about 5:15 to see if we had a reservation. The place was EMPTY. The hostess on duty all but called us a liar when we said we had called four times and left messages. Said she had called me back leaving a message saying we could have a 9 pm reservation. I received NO phone call, nor did I receive a voice mail. She very strongly suggestted she had and that I had just over looked it. I showed her my phone. We were standing where I could very well read the reservation book. They had TWO reservations for 5pm, which either had not shown up or were seated maybe upstairs because no one was on the bottom floor. She informed us that they were just too booked up to accomodate us. Really? The reservation book says two parties of 2 at 5 and 2 parties of 2 at 5:30......then nothing until 6:30. You don't think your restaurant can feed two people in an hour???

Unfortunately, this isn't the first issue we've had with their reservation system. Around my bday in March we called, and had no return call. I doubt we'll try again.

We walked over to Bristol and had a lovely meal, without a reservation.

Trisha, I'm really sorry you had such an unpleasant experience, especially after our conversation and my recommendation. That's really unacceptable, and it surprises me that you got that kind of treatment.

I'm surprised as well. Le Gallo Russo took our (same day) reservations about a year ago, and everything was perfect.

Go another time if you get the chance. (and if you can get past the bad taste in your mouth.)

I'll put another vote in for Martini's...We've eaten there several times and have never been disappointed in the food or service.
