New Shelby Street Restaurant?

Does anyone know what is going into the old Mr Gattis on Shelby? It's right beside the White Castle in Germantown.

Okay, I've got the 411 on this one: It's going to be another El Tarasco Mexican, pastel-bright and with an outdoor deck added, plus a LED back-lit Frozen Margarita Machine, all this likely aimed at drawing a U of L crowd.

How is El Tarasco? I've been to that El Nopal, and I find it not very good, and I'm not above some non-authentic Mexican fare. For instance, I much prefer a La Bamba chorizo burrito to anything at El Nopal.

I like the El Tarasco in St. Matthews, and way back (early '00s) was pretty impressed with the one on New Cut Road. It's certainly in the same ball park as El Nopal/Nopalito or Los Aztecas, but I wouldn't exactly call it "non-authentic." It's not as authentic as a hole inna wall taqueria where they don't speak any English, but a lot closer to Mexico than Tumbleweed or Don Pablo's. I figure if they have posters in the lobby advertising cheap call-home Mexican phone cards, they've got a Latino audience at least partly in mind.

By "non-authentic" I mostly meant cheap. I wasn't trying to slam them, but simply to say that I am not above ordinary mexican food that you find in such places. I just don't particularly like El Nopal, which is a shame since it's the closest restaurant to my house. I hope El Tarasco is better.
