2nd Martini's Italian Bistro coming!

by Mark R. » Mon May 06, 2013 11:39 am

From insider Louisville this morning:
• Big news on Dutchmans Lane. We heard a deal is closer that would put a second Martini’s Italian Bistro into the space at 6201 Dutchmans. The large building began life as Oldenburg Brewery back in the late 1990s. We’ve known about this deal – pretty much everyone has known about it – for months. But now we hear work will start on the interior this month. As we told you back in March, the building has never really had a viable tenant since the long-departed Richard Reeves’ Superior Development Group partnership built the $2.6 million Oldenberg restaurant and microbrewery way back in 1997. And as we noted, the location has everything going for it, at least on paper – heavy residential density, hospitals and huge office buildings, all within a half-mile radius.

Cool news!
Personally, though, I disagree with this:
And as we noted, the location has everything going for it, at least on paper – heavy residential density, hospitals and huge office buildings, all within a half-mile radius.

That location is set far back from the road and tends to disappear behind the Panera and other buildings- that was a problem for Oldenburg and the place that was there after. A mid-priced Italian place, however, could be just the thing to draw people to that spot! I'll be interested to see what they do for lunch. :D

I certainly agree about the location. It seems to have some type of a jinx too. Everything that has been in there has failed in fairly short order.

I wish them luck. Tough spot that on paper has everything going for it. The hospitals are a plus but are across a major congested intersection. Can't see it from the hospitals so non workers might never know it exists.

Some decent shopping around there but it won't get same residual traffic that the other location in the summit benefits from.

Between two areas of town that are known for excellent dining and nightlife; the highlands and st Matthews. Will revelers leave those areas for a decent Italian meal? It's neighbors are all large corporate chains that are well established and budget minded.

I wouldn't rely on business from hospital employees. I work at suburban and rarely get a lunch long enough to get a nice meal. And if you've been to suburban recently youd see parking is at a premium. We never go anywhere we can't walk for fear of losing our spots!

Don't expect they'll get much hospital action....but they will do a very good business. It'll be the best restaurant in the area, and there is a lot of office space nearby. Jim Davis is an excellent restaurant owner. I am very, VERY excited about this......

I'm excited. It's near me, and I love Martini's!
