Marin, Tahoe, Reno suggestions

by Lonnie Turner » Wed May 01, 2013 7:34 pm

Heading to CA soon for a few days that will include time in Marin Co., Tahoe City & a brief trip over to Reno for the Nat'l Auto Museum (formerly Harrah's). Any suggestions for good places for lunch and dinner? No San Francisco places, please, as I won't be going there this time around.
Thanks in advance!

We haven't been there in a few years, but the last time we were the restaurant at: Sunnyside Resort was very good, a little away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of town and had great views.

Lonnie-
Where in Marin? Any chance you can make it to Point Reyes Station and/ or Muir Woods?

Lonnie,
When we went to Muir Woods, we took the lovely coast road up to Point Reyes Station and loved both the drive and the town. The main highlights were visits to Point Reyes cheese ( home of Point Reyes Blue) and going to Cowgirl Creamery. They have fabulous cheese, ( theirs and lots of others ), very knowledgeable staff and a very nice selection of picnic foods, crackers, charcuterie and wine. You can have a picnic out back, or have one on the road somewhere. :D
