APRON, Inc. to Host “Disco Ball” Fundraiser June 2nd

April 30, 2013; Louisville, Kentucky. APRON, Inc. announces its second annual fundraising event on Sunday, June 2nd. "The Disco Ball" is the title for this year’s party.
The mission of APRON, Inc. is to provide temporary, limited financial relief to professional food and beverage workers in the Louisville, KY metro area who work at locally owned establishments and are experiencing financial distress due to illness, injury or other issues. The funds raised at the annual events go directly to locals in need of this support. Serving as a safety net, APRON serves the local community “helping you out of the weeds.”
With the vibrant and thriving independent restaurant landscape in Louisville, APRON, INC. grew out of a need to support the workers at such establishments who by no fault of their own have fallen on hard financial times mostly relating to unexpected medical costs. The theme of the second-annual celebration is “We Are Family” and there will be a live DJ playing disco-inspired music. Other event highlights include over 25 participating restaurants that will serve a sampling selection of cocktails, appetizers, and dessert items. A silent auction consisting of travel, shopping, dining and spirit products will be another highlight and was the largest revenue generator at last year’s successful event.

Date: Sunday, June 2nd
Time: 4-7 pm
Location: The Ice House, 226 East Washington St.
Tickets: $40 in advance, $50 at the door.
Tickets may be pre-purchased at http://www.aproninc.org/events
VIP Packages will also be available.

Any restaurants we haven't contacted that are interested in participating at the event or anyone wishing to donate gift cards or products for the silent auction please contact
Dan Thomas at daniel.thomas@jefferson.kyschools.us or
Luca Bianconcini at lbianconcini@gmail.com
All of your support is appreciated!

And as the chair of the Silent Auction - I am asking all food community members on LHB to PLEASE consider donating an item for our Silent Auction - especially a "one-of-a-kind" item like a class, a chef's dinner, a tasting or something else that is special and/or unique. David Pierce from NABC donated a beer tasting for last year, the team at St Charles Exchange did a cocktail class, Stephen Dennison did a "Modernist Cocktail Party" - lots of wonderful things all the way around! PM me if you have questions - or want to donate! Don't know what you could offer that would be appealing? DEFINITELY PM me - I can help! 8)

That's THIS Sunday. APRON Inc.'s second annual fundraiser. APRON is your local emergency relief fund for restaurant workers in the Louisville Metro area.

You don't have to dress up, but prepare yourself for an onslaught of disco music and fine food and signature cocktails from area restaurants.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door if you're alone, or $40 at the door if you bring a friend.

Who's coming?

A couple more establishments that will be sampling:
Bistro 1860
502 Winery

I'm almost certain I've forgotten some others, but it has been a crazy week for me and I'm not as organized as I usually am. Regardless, this is still a stellar line up of locally owned places that are coming out for this very worthy cause!

Everybody should come to the party for no reason other than a Justin-Timberlake-ticket-silent-auction-fistfight might break out between the lovely Miss Marsha Lynch, the lovely Miss Dawn Bianconcini, and the lovely Miss Yours Truly.
