When?

Does the Sunday 10 a.m. liquor sales begin tomorrow or the following Sunday ( the day after derby)?

now I wonder, if I went into a restaurant at 10 a.m., bought a bottle of wine, can I leave with that bottle of wine before 1:00?

Im not aware that this was allowed after 1 pm. I have never seen someone leave with half a bottle of wine from a restaurant. I am sure it has happened but its legality would be in question.

It's legal as long as it sealed. Some local restaurants even have special bags they will put the bottle in and then seal it. We've actually used one at Selenas.

Mark is 100 percent right. This is a fairly recent law, passed within the past few years, and it got through the legislature on the basis of discouraging drunken driving by giving people the option of taking part of their wine home rather than finishing it all. Technically it has to be placed in a secured bag with the receipt attached, and the letter of the law, I think, requires it be in the trunk or at least out of the driver's reach. But it's totally legal, and we do it a lot. :)

I celebrated the new law today by having a delicious brunch at Hillbilly Tea with a Bloody Mary made with their smoked tea hooch - it was wonderful. Paired with the Moonshine Pork beakfast - Highly recommended!

We do it all the time too. Particularly at places with half-price bottles- we'll drink a glass or so each and take the rest home. Not much more money than two glasses....

Where were you? Mary and I were there a little later - close to the regular cocktail hour. Sorry we missed you, Food Kid! 8)

I was upstairs near the top of the staircase at the big picnic table with a party of 9, we left around 12:45 - it's a bummer I didn't catch you!
