Personally, I can't say I'm disappointed in this decision...

Great decision. I love dogs, but owners tend to be lazy and groups of dogs create nothing but problems.

I don't tend to be lazy and I am a dog owner, but I cannot say I am surprised that this was coming. It only takes one kid to poo in the pool before everyone has to get out.

I say we keep it open to dogs but encourage the public to train erring owners by rubbing their noses in the mess.

Not a big fan of "banning" things, but even less of a fan of people not taking personal responsibility. Ban irresponsible dog owners, problem solved.

As a proud dog owner, it bums me out that some lazy people ruined this for the rest of us, but I do see point.
I have no problem picking up my dogs poo, we do it when we are walking the dogs in the neighborhood, but on a concrete surface, what do you do about the urine?
I'm certainly not worried about that when we walk our dogs as there is grass everywhere, but letting them indiscriminately pee everywhere on the bridge with no real way to clean it up, does make sense to me why they have chosen the pet ban.

Supposedly it was not so much that people weren't cleaning it up...although I'm sure some weren't...but that it was leaving a residue even when you did clean it up. Also, as Dan said, the urine.

Smart move.
