Looking for a greyt Roast Beef Manhattan. . . .

by Lois Mauk » Mon Apr 22, 2013 10:24 pm

Hubby has been craving a really good Roast Beef Manhattan. Sadly, he has been disappointed in several local restaurants. Past favorites are no longer in business, so the search continues.

He's pretty old school -- White bread, sliced roast beef, mashed potatoes and beefy brown gravy.

Any suggestions? We live in Jeffersonville but we have our shots and passports, so we're free to travel even to the southern side of the "Big Muddy".

Thx.

Ditto's has a good one. I have only had it for lunch and I'm not sure if it is available for dinner.
Very reasonably priced.

I found the one at Cunningham's Creekside to be pretty good. The last time I had it they actually had a pot roast type of cut on the sandwich rather than sliced deli roast beef.

We had a great on at Wagner's on the back side of Churchill Downs. This is not the best time to fight the crowd, but it to will pass. They have daily "specials" and this was the special of the day, but I don't remember what day of the week we were there. A phone call will solve that question.

LOL, thought you were talking about a drink, the "bullshot", that you put in beef broth. Made famous in the movie Caddyshack, Rodney, "can you make a bullshot"? BT, "can you make a shoe smell"? I too am old school about my "roast beast n gravy", gotta be good ol white bread!!! Hall's has a good one and it is even "buffet" style so you can get it with extra gravy, and green beans!! :D

Did you try Anne's by the river yet? They have it on a weekly rotation I think.

I think Bill Darling at Coach Lamp still has one and cooks the roast beef in house.
