Thunder Food Trucks?

by Deb Hall » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:12 am

Are any of our food trucks planning to be downtown- not Waterfront- for Thunder? We'd love to patronize our own trucks for the event, even if wee have to walk a ways with two 8 year old boys...:-)

Busta Grill will NOT be out there. I would have to wait until 2 am to get out of there. No way. Did it one year, sold 2 sausages (prepped 400, donated it all to a church after) and I am right in the thick of it by the Yum center. Noooooooo way.

That's awful, Adam! I was largely thinking of you when i posted. :D Those sausages are the bomb!

I thought I remembered folks setting up someplace off East Market last yea ( we didn't go to Thunder the past several years) - was that where you were? Haven't heard anything about that again; that would certainly explain why....

Me neither. The fees to participate are pretty high, at least for me. My product line is very moderately priced, and it takes a lot of cupcakes to pay the fee.

Leah-
You have to pay extra to sell downtown that day, even if you aren't in the waterfront area? I know a permit is needed but didn't know they were pricey is out of that area....

Cox Concessions controls more geography then just the Waterfront area. So, yes, you have to buy space from them. I've been told they have a multi-year contract with Metro.

Thanks, Deb! :D

I was at my usual corner at 1st and Washington. You would think it would be a gold mine but no... once I discovered people could bring coolers full of food it dawned on me that no one would buy my wares.. also, the only business I would maybe do would be late or as people are leaving meaning I would have to sit there all night until ALL of the traffic cleared out of downtown (which I would guess would be around 1 or 2 am) to have someone pick me up because I can't park my car down there. No way. I will be on a deck in Cresent Hill having beers and grilling meat with friends as far away as possible. :)
