Traffic Alert - All Week - Brownsboro Crossing

by Steve P » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:48 pm

Just a "heads up" for those of you who frequent the area around Brownsboro Crossing (Corbett's, Red Robin, Lowe's, Costco, Norton, yada-yada-yada)...Give yourself -plenty- of extra time to get to these destinations for (at least) the remainder of the week. Cabela's held their -soft- Grand Opening today and the area was a total -zoo-....The "official" Grand Opening is tomorrow (Thu 4/11) and one of my customers told me that people are already packing the parking lot showing all the signs of pulling an all-nighter to get in tomorrow. Both Lowe's and Costco have hired security to -try- to keep their parking lots accessible, others will likely follow suit. When their store opened last month in Columbus, traffic was backed up on the interstate for 3 miles...no reason to expect any less here.

I was at Costco at 12:30 and there was no problem. But I could see that they had set up temp parking in the grass. Looks like it could be crazy. I will wait until the hub bub abates before checking it out.

On another note- Costco Tenderloins PSMO are $9.99 lb for choice. Wondering if price will increase as we approach Derby.

Spoke with someone who was down there about 2pm who reported at least 3 squads cruising the surrounding parking lots (Lowes/Costco/Red Robin/etc), apparently writing tickets. Traffic in the immediate and surrounding area was reported to be heavy....i.e. "St Matts/Mall/Shelbyville Road- on-a-Saturday-like". The temporary parking area is a mud-hole with several cars observed being pushed out. I was told the store was crazier than Nordstroms on "Shoe Sale" day...lines for the cash registers snaked their way to the back of the store and the wait to check out was over an hour. Ammo, especially .223, 7.62, 9mm and .40SW, was reported to be either sold out or in extremely short supply.

Personally this has now become my favorite part of town...I mean Lowe's, Costco and now Cabela's...what more could a feller ask for...'sides maybe a Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant (oh-please-please-please make it happen).

11:30, the line on 71S to freeway was about a mile. Returning later on the freeway from Prospect, I took the outside lane to get to Costco gas pumps from the east. Showed my card to enter the parking lot. The huge green space in the middle was covered with cars. Traffic people did a good job of moving people - at least my route to Chamberlain and 22 east. Ruins my lovely Costco shopping and Chilis meals:-)

Their prices stay steady all year. You should be good for Derby.
