Dakshin Didn't Disappoint

by Alison Hanover » Sun Mar 31, 2013 4:06 pm

25 of us, 4 American, 2 Half Brit Half American and 19 Brits went to Dakshin last night. We had the entire center of the restaurant to ourselves. Service was great, the waitress remembered who ordered what and separated the bills with the minimum of fuss. The food was superb, by far the best Indiana I have had in the States. It was the closest I have come to a British Indian Restaurant. I had the garlic naan, the chicken curry and two large Haywards 5000 beers. The server went and asked if the chef could make onion bhajis for Johnny ( a fellow Liverpudlian) and I even though they weren't on the menu and he obliged. They weren't exactly like the ones I am used to, but they were good. We spent 3.5 hours eating, talking, drinking and laughing. My bill was a very reasonable $28,and I left $5.00 tip.

I think we are going to make the montly British and Proud Curry night at Dakshin in future.

Ate there recently myself and thought it was very good and amazingly cheap. Tandoori chicken was pretty dried out but it was a lunch buffet so it was probably just out too long.

Alison, I wouldn't mind joining you guys if you accept mere Anglophiles in your company. I also noticed there is an Indian restaurant over in the Jeff Quadrangle that I'd like to try.

Love a curry!

Yee gads I don't FB Alison! Wouldn't want to embarrass myself by posting insipid thoughts there!

I can't make it Saturday night but I'd love to be there when you guys encore Dakshin or any other Indian place for that matter! I'll be seeing you soon for another gyro. Cheers!

Joel, the guy in the white t shirt on the left is Scouse who founded the British and Proud FB page. Although, I am from Liverpool I support Everton the "other" Liverpool team! We are all going to Mollys on May 4th at 10am to watch Liverpool v Everton, There should be an equal amount of blue to red shirts. :D

Ha! I've not made it down for a match with the crew yet.

Lot of respect for Mr Moyes. It'll be close on the run in to see who pips who in the table.

If you haven't been out to Bombay to eat (mentioned elsewhere here) then that should be on your list. Quality food.
