Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
I came to Eiderdown quite a bit when it opened. I always had a great experience. I guess it fell of my radar and I had not been in about a year. I went with my family of six last night for dinner and it was better than ever! Service was excellent, delicious selection of beer (as always!), and food was outstanding. Salads were fresh and perfectly dressed. A special shout out to the dessert guy for one of the most amazing desserts I've ever had; a fresh lemon cruller with raspberry pudding. There's something about fried dough that is extra special.
I won't wait so long to get back this time. In a town with so many options it's one of my favorites.
Agreed.....I went when it was all buzzin' at the beginning and it was good. Went back a couple of months ago at an off-hour when a friend was in town and we wanted a couple of beers and some good food and it was operating at 110%. Great food great service.
The food, service and selection is ALWAYS amazing at Eiderdown, not to mention the fact that Heather and James are seriously awesome people. Dining there is never disappointing.
Going to have to pile on here. I was with Taylor at dinner on Saturday and had a fantastic meal too.
I have NEVER had as much as a bad bite at Eiderdown. Seriously. Every single thing I have ever eaten there has been fantastic. The service has been perfect every visit as well. I wish I lived next door.
Lone voice of dissent: I've been to this place three or four times and have not yet had a good experience, whether food, service, or atmosphere. It seems dark, dirty and dingy, too. I do like the beer selection. Maybe I just don't get it, but it's been given enough chances.
(Or, maybe I'm just cranky trying to get used to Windows 8........)
I've eaten there 10+ times and never had anything dissapoint in the slightest. the beer cheese, while being different each time i've had it, has always been the best in the city i.m.o. I'm not much of a sausage guy, but the viking's wurst (sp?) is freakin amazing. can't say enough good things about this place.
I think I'm due to go back. We went not long after it opened, and I thought highly of it at the time (Oct. 2010 review here), and I have trusted-palate friends who swear by it. Funny, I wrote in that short review that I would come back to do a longer one, but I haven't. Guess I ought to put it on my list ...
