The Bloodhorse Dinner

by Stephen D » Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:01 pm

Let me preface this by saying that I come here to share, inspire and most-importantly, be inspired.

So let's keep the 'it-will-never-happens' to a minimum, please. It happens.

So this next event, we're going to do an event that celebrates Kentucky:

Our love for our steeds.

Our love for our whiskey.

Our love for hospitality.

With those premises set, I figure we do this thing second week of April. Everybody's got cabin faver and looking forward to Derby. Let's inspire those who are about to become Ambassadors to the world.

The Bloodhorse Dinner

We will actually take the life-stories of the great horses and apply them to the dining experience. Bourbon will be included- albeit treated with enough room temp water to bring them down to 65 proof and open them up...

For instance: Man O' War- the boss, aggressive, unrelenting, one of a kind. Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage and Hot-Smoked Duck Breast.

Life imitates art which in turn imitates life.

Pretty cool! There's simply lots of work to be done here...

Oh, wait ... this doesn't have anything to do with Marsha's column, does it?

I'll have Doug's portion of black pudding, please, but I'm still queasy on the horse. I'm a hypocrite and can't stifle it! I'm a fair-weather veg, I suppose.

I'm not feeding anybody horse, guys!

This is where I bang my head against the wall...

It has nothing to do with Marsha's column. Bloodhorse is a magazine- one that is held in well respect.

I kind of like the name- I find it inspiring. Have you seen my FB page lately?

I just won't do this again, since we can't behave well. I'll do a normal press-release, like anybody-else.

Hell, I thought bringing in foodies on the creative process would be a cool idea. I'm getting nothing but grief. I was wrong, my bad.

/sigh

Hell no Stephen!
I really hope you don't stop your creative posting. I find them lyrical and entertaining and I bet others do as well.

I swear I don't read the plethora of restaurant meal ads that Robin relays on this forum anymore as they reflect as much creativity as the people they are aimed at. I'm pretty sure a list of food is exactly what the majority of the Eeyore foodists who mostly post here want though.

They must go to the latest thing and be seen. They pop up afterwards to let you know they got their sloth burger too! I'm no flaming hair Colonel (whatever happened to that guy?) who wants to digest the world, but I see nothing wrong with eating horse - unless it's your horse.

Nothing wrong with blood sausage either other than it's nasty and apt to cause an explosive hot brown so sit near the toilets I'd advise.

Before your head explodes – it never occurred to me that you would be serving horse, bloody or otherwise, and those who responded probably didn't think that either. They were just taking the piss mate. Cheers!
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way

I understand everybody was playing around with me and that's fine and dandy- I was laughing at the posts.

This is the truth though- social media is sort of like a game of telephone sometimes. The OP gets lost in the fray. Some cat from PETA will breeze over our banter here and then the next thing I know I'm dealing with a Game picket-line.

They already hate horse racing.

I am trying to celebrate animal husbandry and the great creatures that have blessed us over the years.

We're on the same team here- I can't let this thing become a problem. So I have to take a hard-line, for the good of all.

So tongue-in-cheek jokes that we get, they may not find so funny. It can turn the best of intentions into the worst of nightmares.

I still like the name 'Bloodhorse.' It speaks of tradition, of lineage. A great nod to what makes us Kentuckians. It's perfect for inspiring us all to be the best hospitaliers we can be during the mad rush and confluence of humanity that is Derby.

Haha, Yeah I get it. Heres the truth:

I have plantar faciitis in my left foot. I overcompensated and twisted my right foot two week's ago. It hasn't healed- I've been on it that much.

By all means, tell me how your viewpoint means more than my blood and sweat.

I want to apologize to Stephen on this public forum for any misunderstanding of my previous post. I put the Caddyshack/ Dangerfield clip on here because of his line "I still see marks on this where the Jockey was whipping it" referring to the steak he was eating. I was in no way comparing Stephen to Rodney Dangerfield. Please accept my sincere apologies for any misunderstanding.
