Just posted by my old newsie pal Cary Willis on Facebook. Hold Ken Pyle in your thoughts and prayers, please, and if you know Ken and his family well, you might want to get in touch.

"The proprietor of the Rudyard Kipling, Ken Pyle, is seriously ill. A friend from his church reports that he is suffering from renal failure. The Rud has long been a vital part of this community, offering food and drink, community theater, live music, literary readings and neighborhood meeting space in Old Louisville. Keep Ken and his wife Sheila in your thoughts."

Ken is a great guy. My best pal's theatre troop has been putting up plays at the Rud for time immemorial and Ken was always intrinsic in supporting them and everyone in the local scene.

All positive energy to Ken.

Does anyone know which hospital he's in?

I asked Cary and he said he thinks Norton Downtown, but not for sure.

Ken has always been the best club owner to work with. My many bands played at the Rud more times than I can remember and he was always the best to work with without a doubt. Kind, understanding, and never hassled the bands. He let us keep 100% of the door all the time. He's a big part of the music and theater scene around here. Not many were as supportive. What makes me more sad is that I saw him in Restaurant Depot just a few weeks ago and didn't recognize him until he was leaving and I didn't say hello. Him and his family are in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear this. Ken is a great guy. Prayers for him and Sheila.
