Too Few Fish in the Sea

I found this collection of articles to be a most interesting read. Much food for thought!

A couple of thoughts.
Remembering back to the first season of Deadliest Catch before there were quotas in place for the crab fisheries. It was a gold rush, "derby" style system were it was as much as you could haul.
I remember the crew from the Northwestern stuffing their tanks and then "deck loading" another 10,000 lbs. Edgar commented that Sig "was going out in style". I can't imagine any of those crab making it to market the way they were plied up in a make shift pen made by corralling them in a cage made out of the crab pots and hosing them down with water. Makes you wonder about the wisdom of that  , but it did make for great TV :D ........Starts around the 23 minute mark

Also another interesting read about fishing, marine policy and the challenges faced with trying to protect territorial waters from over fishing. Great book! I've long since passed my copy off to someone else, but it's worth checking out.
