I found a book called "Louisville in Good Taste" by Lani Basber and Jeanne Jennings at a thrift shop today. It is dated 1989 and has menus and recipes from local restaurants. A lot of names that are gone and fondly remembered: Bauer's, Casa Grisanti, Hasenour's, Masterson's, are some of the names. I have just gotten through the first few and have a whole new group of recipes to try.

If you are looking for an old favorite, I will check in this for you.

I like finding things like that at thrift stores or antique places. What are some of the 1989 menu prices at - say Hasenours?

The funny thing is that I was the restaurant (and wine) guy at the CJ in 1989, along with being a reporter, and I don't remember a thing about that book. I was usually very conscious of anything that was done about local eats and eateries.

Funny, too, it doesn't seem that long ago.

It published by McClanahan Publishing House in Kuttawa, KY. It appears they mostly do Kentucky based books of history and cookbooks.

Prices for Hasenour's - only the Atrium menu is there. Prices are from $11.95 for Chicken Gazpacho saute chicken breast, deglazed with red wine and gazpacho, grilled zucchini gami) to $22.95 for Grilled Lobster Tails. Prices include Atrium salad and fresh baked bread. I will try to scan some pages and post them.

Me too! I have collected KY cookbooks for many years--had forgotten about this one! It is a fun read about places long gone and places we still enjoy!
