Mt. Eden Greenhouse - News from John and Anne

by Steve P » Mon Mar 04, 2013 7:46 pm

I was asked by John and Anne Hagan to relay the following to all of their Hotbytes friends...

The -bad- news is that Mt. Eden Greenhouse is no more. John and Anne were set to close on the sale of the property and all of it's contents on March 1st. It is my understanding that the property will be used for the cultivation of landscape plants and thus not continue as a greenhouse.

The -good- news...of which there is much more...

As most of their friends know John and Anne have been working for Zambelli Fireworks for the past several years. As a matter of fact they have both been heavily involved in Thunder Over Louisville for the past several years (among other things). In recognition for their hard work they were offered an exclusive Zambelli sales territory extending from Vancouver B.C. to San Diego (including Hawaii and Las Vegas). Sooooo...Late last week John and Anne loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly...Beverly Hills....swimmin pools...movie stars...well actually I'm fibbing about that part. They moved to a small town outside of Bakersfield California centrally located to their new territory . In the months leading up to the move, John had already been expanding their "book" of shows, so I have no doubt they will be successful in the new endevour.

Perhaps the best news of all...Last fall John and Anne were contacted by a beautiful 20 year old daughter whom they had given up for adoption when Anne was 17. They had not seen her since birth. With the blessings of the adoptive parents, John and Anne have for the past 6 or 8 months been developing a very positive and personal relationship with a daughter they thought they would never see. Their daughter is currently enrolled in a private college in Washington (state) and has already made plans to spend her spring break as well as the summer living with them and helping them get their new lives off to a good start.

John offers his apologies for not being able to personally say goodbye to each of you (in person). We had a -very- small going away get together with them last weekend and although a bit stressed they were both in excellent spirits.

I hope this little bit of "feel good" news gives you a big smile...As John and Anne wanted it to.

Although we are going to miss Anne and John, we could not be happier for them. What an incredible year in their life--it's complete now!!! We were sooo glad to be able to visit with them last Sunday. If anyone deserves the wonderful things that are happening , the Hagan's certainly do! Hopefully they will stay in touch. Wishing them only the best!!! Love ya Anne and John.....

Sorry to hear they're leaving. We'll miss them, and the greenhouse. Great to hear that John is moving on a promising career path, though!

Just so there is no misunderstanding or potentially hurt feelings...The little going away get together with John and Anne bordered on spontaneous...Becky and I had tried to for some time to coordinate a time (convenient for them) when we could have a more appropriate (and large scale) sendoff...alas with their busy schedule leading up to moving day, this proved impossible to accomplish. We ended up going out for pizza literally the day before they moved.
