Kalisimbi opened about 2 months ago in the former Mr. Gattis at the edge of Iroquois Plaza on S. 3rd St. Its run by a couple of guys from Rwanda/Burundi. They serve brochettes and other dishes mainly from East Africa and have a nice bar. They place dance music late on weekends from 11-4am. The late night dancing tends to draw a lot of Hispanics from the surrounding area.
It a nice spot to meet Africans and enjoy that type of ambiance in a spacious environment. On the other hand, its Non-African enough to enjoy a ballgame on one of the many screens (as I did this afternoon--bravo U of L over Syracuse) and a pint of Bluemoon.
