211 Clover: Goodness Gracious

by Stephen D » Thu Feb 28, 2013 1:47 pm

I just found out that Hornback is joining the staff at 211.

I held off on talking about the new renovations, wanting to give them time to make it happen.

This is a big move, with a big hitter. Emilly ran the bar at Limestone for years and pretty much laces the strings at all of the bartender competitions.

Her style is farm-to-glass. Her palate, impeccable. She's going to fit like a glove with Schuster.

Does Clover have seating at the bar?

I don't know anything about the renovations Stephen mentioned above, but in the configuration existing last time I was in (December), there was no bar seating that I recall (or from 5 or 6 other visits over the years).

The renovations are pretty extensive.

We were there last week and when we entered the restaurant we honestly thought for a second we were in the wrong place - that extensive. While they are substantially complete it looked like they were still putting some finishing touches on the renovation.

My recollections as you enter the front door and proceed through the restaraunt:

The new bar is in a pretty good sized room as you enter and the bar is to the right on the new wall. If I recall correctly there were 5-6 stools at the bar.

Further into the entry room\bar looked to be another room for private functions that had French Doors. They looked to still be working on that room.

Take a left into the dining room and there is a smaller room with a door on the left for private dining that looked to seat maybe 8-10 with a single table.

They removed the little drop off in the hardwood floor right past the old hostess station as you enter the dining room.

The old bar area is a new wall with a door that had a couple of signs that I seem to remember said something about a private wine tasting area or private bar. One of their signature pieces of glass is in an alcove on this wall too.

And............they now have Men's and Women's restrooms! No more Unisex facilities. My wife was very happy about that. We can't offer a review of the facilities at this time, but I'm sure they are very nice given the obvious thought and execution of the rest of the renovation.
