Northeast Enders Check Your Mail

by robert szappanos » Fri Nov 16, 2007 3:25 pm

Not sure how big the mailing was but in todays maill is a ten dollor off 30 dollars or more at the new LongHorn's Steakhouse in the Old Brownsboro Crossing. If you have not been to one there food is very good...I have had the Steaks...Chops and seafood and all were great...The ribs are good but not a true BBQ rib...They are Chargrilled then basted in sauce....They are good but dont compare to Jucys or Big r's. Looks like the coupon expires on Christmas Eve....Hope you got one in the mail... :D

Longhorn also has very good Beef Liver! It's only on the lunch menu but you can get it any time if you ask. It's all you can eat grilled liver and onions with one side and I believe the price it only $6.95! I love liver, my wife hates it and won't let me eat it at home so it's a good compromise. The liver is extremely tender and cooked very well.

I love Longhorn, and have to say, have never had a bad experience or disappointing meal. Everything is consistently excellent!

I had the lunch salmon today with rice and fresh asparagus. Overall this is a nice middle-of-the-road steak house.

I agree! I have dined at Longhorns twice and enjoyed it. They use Buckhead Beef (out of Atlanta) and though it is not "all natural", it is pretty good beef.

Folks,

Thanks for the heads-up om this place. We live right arounfd the corner and I've never thought to go there: assumed it was standard low-end steakhouse fare. Glad to see the positive reviews- particularly from you, Dave- if you thought they were good, we'll have to go give it a try!

They are not a low end place...that would be Ponderosa....not sure what you are used to or how much you pay...but they are better then Texas Roadhouse and places like that...there sides are really good also.....

I recommend the fried cheesecake if you actually have room for dessert!

The Longhorn and Capital Grille are probably the two best of Darden's restaurants. (beware: they are both CHAINS!)

Our biggest problem: if you eat lunch, they will only cook burgers medium-well or more.

I don't know why I keep coming back to this like a moth to the flame, but it's because chains are managed by absentee, corporate owners who don't have to look the customer in the eye and thus can more easily put their top priority on quarterly profits than on food and service.

Yes, I know they're popular. Yes, I know some people think they have good food. And no, I don't expect you to understand.

Rolling my eyes, "keeping it weird", and letting those that just don't get it enjoy their meals :D
