See what some local chefs are doing local schools.

by Dan Thomas » Wed Jan 02, 2013 12:12 pm

I have taken the challenge from First Lady Michelle Obama to get "Chefs Move to Schools" very much to heart.
Not just because I currently work in school foodservice, but because, I feel that as a chef, I have a unique opportunity to get involved with local students and try to instill some healthy eating habits in their diets.
Here is a link to the JCPS produced TV show "Our Kids" that will be airing this month that shows a couple of our afterschool programs in action(you will see a couple of familiar faces  ) as well as a piece on the culinary program at Western High School.

Dano...Just so everyone knows, your passion for guiding children to a healthier lifestyle goes back a -lot- further than the current First Lady's calling. I have been and will always be impressed with your genuine passion for providing children with the tools and education they need in order to make healthier choices. You are indeed a true hero in that respect. Now if we could just get you to quit second guessing my BBQ... 8)
