An insurance policy for which the company pays $30 and the employee pays $10 is minimal catastrophic only; there can be no coverage for anytihng else with that pricing!

This is in NO WAY comparable in the slightest to a "real" health insurance policy.

I know at one point my son was offered a similar policy from his employer, and rejected it in favor of buying a true full-coverage policy (purchased on his own). The cost was significantly more (several hundred a month more), but he had real coverage for meds, for doctor visits, for hospital visits, et al.

Without examining the two different policies, you cannot make judgements like that!

Just follow the money! Thats all this is, another money grab by the Feds. Why do you think they hired over 20k new IRS agents? You reap what you sow or who you voted for. Either way, dining at our great indie's will get more expensive and I would expect some lay-offs or reduction in work hours.

I found the article inane. Nothing to do with the author or the source. It's just that this is a highly politicized issue, and I don't see this as adding significantly to the debate.

Given that I have a son-in-law who is an executive for one of the largest consulting firms in the -world- and who has worked -directly- and extensively with government executives at the highest level to assist in the implementation of what some of you people call "Obamacare"...I can state firmly and categorically that your claim of the government hiring 20 thousand new IRS "agents" (or any other ridiculous number you choose to come up with) is....well...It's just not even remotely true.

<sigh>...and this ain't gonna happen either, since very few if -any- of our "great indies" currently employ enough full-time-equivalent employees to fall under the auspices of <gasp> Obamacare.

Two words : Single Payer

But really, as employers, we have serious obligations to our employees. At the same time, we can't make money grow on trees, so if you don't have the money for health insurance, what do you do?

It does seem like the new law will create some horrible conflicts. Why do we refuse to look at what the rest of the world does? (with comparable or better outcomes at much lower cost)
