Deli Man

by Steve A » Thu Nov 29, 2012 7:31 am

Occasionally there's talk here about the dearth of a good deli in Louisville. As it turns out, we're not alone. In 1931, there were 1,550 kosher delis in NYC. Today: 150 Jewish delis in all of North America.

Somebody's making a movie about deli culture. The trailer for it is twelve minutes long. If you like, you can shlep yourself over and watch the trailer. Fyvush Finkel makes an appearance in the clip. Oy, we should all be so lucky to live as long as him. Mazel Tov.

I can't resist another opportunity to mention Shapiro's in Downtown Indy, an hour and a 1/2 to the north. As close to a NYC deli you are ever going to find close to Louisville.
Too bad I can't figure out how to resize photos to show some of the bill of fare.
