The Feast of Seven Fishes at Majid's

by Stephen D » Sat Nov 24, 2012 11:24 pm

As you can tell, we decided to place a fun, international twist on the meal. The cocktails have become courses themselves. In a nod to the old world, we'll be serving a white and a red on each table. I'll be working on that this week. I'm hoping to find a good deal on some magnums- that would be a nice touch, I think!

Here's the menu:

Bloody Caeser
Russian Standard Vodka, Clam Juice, Bloody Mary
Smoked Oyster, House-Cured Salmon Belly, Tuna Ceviche

Butter-Poached Scallop
Diver, Persian Pistou

Oyster Stew
Atlantic Jumbo, Creamed, Oyster 'Cracker'

Putanesca
White Anchovy, Capellini, Family-Style

Fritatta
Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Chive

Chopped Salad
U-8 Shrimp Scampi, Golden Beet, Hearts of Palm, House Vinaigrette

Fish and Chips
Fresh Cod, House Chips, Malt Vinegar Mignonette

Triffle
Fresh Fig Cheesecake, Chambord Berries, Dumante Egg Nog

Time: Sunday, December 23 @ 6:30
Majid's
3930 Chenoweth Square
502.618.2222
Price: $55 Plus Tax and Gratuity

I think the girlfriend and I may just have to attend this. We are overdue a trip to Majid's anyway and this sounds very interesting.

Let me know the best way to reserve, Mr. D.

Stephen, please put me down for attending this outstanding offering. I'll be on the way back from Eastern Kentucky Christmas celebration and am looking forward to attending. Since I'll be working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this will be a treat! Outstanding work, brother. Can't wait to see ya!

Would you be kind enough to add my mother to my reservation, Stephen. I'll have the high honor of taking my mom out for Christmas dinner for the first time in two decades. She and I are really looking forward to it!

Echoing Ed's thanks to all involved! The meal was truly fabulous- raves to Stephen on the menu and execution! I left stuffed and very happy; from the ovation for Stephen at the end and pretty sure everyone else felt the same.

sounds like this was quite an event...perhaps in the future you can let me know where to send my bribe so that I can be included in the next one, Stephen.

Or if I am some on sort of "undesirables" list, let me know. I probably deserve it.

Naah. It all went down in public, open to all, in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20169&p=151142

In retrospect, Stephen, it might not have been a bad idea to pull this kind of "evolving event" announcement out of a thread and repost it separately in future. But it was definitely out there and open to all.

Dan, naw, we have no "Undesirables" list. There but for the grace of Bacchus go I, and that sort of thing.

Sorry we missed you Dan! From what I understood, they were expecting 60. Not sure what the final count was.

I offer an apology to Tony and others in attendance that I did not meet. I meant to make the rounds but got to talking (as usual) and then the food started to come ( and didn't stop for several hours.... :D )
From the buzz from the other tables, it sounded like once the ice was broken amongst strangers, there were a lot of new food friends made. :D
