Quiet dinner with a power outlet and internet on Monday

by Jackie R. » Fri Oct 19, 2012 11:40 pm

I need a place to have dinner with friends and family on Monday night with a power outlet (I've been getting errors on my laptop that the natural life of my battery is reaching it's end) and internet (something better than the god-awful Sprint hotspot that I'm provided) on Monday night, and preferably a place within five miles of the highlands (me) or Germantown (my dad). And a place that I won't be embarrassed if I have yank out a full-sized laptop and start working at the drop of a hat, free from loud noise. Suggestions or experiences?

You are too cute, Becky - I have been in that kind of disrepair a few times and have had to do the McD's! Not long ago, in fact, which was when I was first warned by my computer about the battery life. Evidently not ALL Mc D's have power outlets available (or internet service), cause I had to dispatch that service call. I felt like a lecher looking under all of the seats throughout this truck stop Mc D's seeking some voltage and connectivity.

And thank you, sweet one, for the well wishes.

Richard - I would think that you of all people would have your finger on the pulse of this question - thank you. But I'm still having a hard time deciding what the most conducive atmospheres for this are without going to a coffee house or cheesy chain. Do you know if these places have power outlets available to plug into?

At this point it'd be too late to help on Monday, but it sounds like you've been doing an power outlet search for a bit. My wife had the same problem with her 2007 laptop so I got her a replacement battery, took less than a week to arrive. Her's was about $35 and keeps the old computer going a while longer. You can expand your dining options greatly that way.
