Former Buckheads Location

by Jenny H » Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:55 am

I am sure it has been mentioned on here somewhere but from searching I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what is going into the former Buckheads on Westport Rd?

It's being converted in to a BW3s. The one in Springhurst is relocating.

That space has thus far been a curse. I do not think the BW's move is a good idea either. I can't believe the rent on a free standing unit is better than a strip mall across the street. Especially now that their business is being pilfered by Drake's and Old Chicago. I give it 18 months.

While BWW's food selections are pretty sad, mediocre and uninspired; they do however provide a great place to watch sports on TV in an exciting environment for that. On occasion they will have a few decent beer choices to go along with it.
As far as getting something exciting and new out in suburbia, with a few exceptions, most local operators don't have deep enough pockets to pay for the markedly higher lease rates on Hurstbourne, Westport, Taylorsville or Shelbyville Rds. One would figure that a place like Seviche would had thrived out there, but it didn't make it.

Very true! Especially with Seviche and they didn't even locate in a new building with high visibility.

It was also very clear to me, after eating at Goose Creek Seviche a few times and paying attention to the conversations around me, that even though there are plenty of sophisticated people in the suburbs, its core audience expected it to be a "Mexican" restaurant with a menu (and pricing!) to compete with Los Aztecas, and it suffered from having a different model that not all of its neighbors seemed to appreciate.
