Louisville Brewing Legend passed away

by Jackie R. » Fri Sep 28, 2012 6:32 pm

I'm sure that more than a handful of members here have had the honor of friendship with Matthew Gould, and for those that are unaware of his passing, I thought I should pass along the sad news. Matt was David Pierce's right hand at the BBC for many years until he moved on to become the brew master for Cumberland Brewing Company when they opened. A few years ago he left there to brew for the Clay St BBC brewing operations. I don't have any details yet, other than the fact that I know he's been suffering with cancer. We were pretty good buddies back in the day, and I'm so upset to report this today. He was one of the most gentle and kind people in our community and not a soul could ever speak poorly about him - he was truly memorable and this is a huge loss for us.

Rest in peace, Matthew. I send a lot of love to your family today and forever for suffering this tragedy.

Thanks for posting this, Jackie. I'm sorry I didn't know Matt except to say hi to, but I am very sorry to say this. I expect he's out there somewhere smiling at your post, though. :) Blessings to him, and hugs to you for being a caring friend.

Thanks Jackie. Now there is good beer in heaven to go with all that rock & roll. Long live Brew Boy.

That sucks!

RIP Matt, you were one of the good ones, and a fellow brewer.....we look out for each other, and you were always good to me.

Prayers to your loved ones....

Friends, I borrowed this from Daren Ferguson in an effort to answer the many questions:

"Services for Matthew Gould will be at Church of the Epiphany on Tuesday evening. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 with Mass at 7:00 pm. The address is 914 Old Harrods Creek Rd, Louisville KY 40223."
