La Bocca Pizzeria

by Svend J » Mon Sep 10, 2012 4:11 pm

Anyone know any details about this place? It's on Paoli Pike in New Albany, IN. Sign has been up for a few weeks and says it will be New York style pizza, but it says "coming soon". Would love to have a good pizzeria in New Albany. Anyone with the scoop?

No scoop on La Bocca, but I hope you tried NABC. It is a N/A pizzeria institution. I've also been hearing great things about the pizzeria in River City Winery.

I'm not certain, but I think it is a different La Bocca doing the pizzeria as opposed to the restaurant in the other topic.

We should probably get that clarified before we shoot down an innocent bystander.

I thought the restaurant in the other post was never named.

Read down to the end. Continued bad behavior led to their outing.

The place the op is referencing is in a strip mall next to Sunset Liquors on Paoli Pike just west of New Albany. I don't know if this is associated with the restaurant in down town New Albany or not but it is not the same physical location.
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way

It seems to me that I heard somewhere (how's that for drunken memory?) about the La Bocca brand "extension" on Paoli Pike. In this hazy recollection, it was to be the same owner as the one on Market, with a different concept closer to where he lives. I might be wrong.

Talked to the owner at La Bocca on Market and it is the same ownership. They said they are hoping to open next Monday (9/24).

La Bocca had the best pizza in Southern Indiana in my opinion before they took it off the menu. Hoping it will be the same at the new place.

That's good news. The populace residing "above" this location is poorly served by quality indies.

Yes, that is correct, and yes, in my usual eagerness to tout the indie, I completely forgot about Dave's bad experience and stand corrected.

I do not doubt Dave ... and the other side was not aired here ... and Bocca seems to do good business ... and sometimes, neighborhood diplomacy is a sport best left to professionals, if there are such things.

BTW, Alison (not trying to change the subject), I have not forgotten the beer. I just haven't had the chance to make it up, see you and grab a gyro while I'm at it.
