Mozz gone?

by Robin F. » Mon Sep 10, 2012 3:49 pm

I think Mozz is closed. I just saw a post on FB through a friend; one of the employees said they were looking for a job and Mozz was closed.

I am not surprised, but I'm sorry to hear it.

That's odd, I just received an email from Los Monitos yesterday regarding a language/culinary partnership with Mozz. http://losmonitos.com/picarescala/programs-at-mozz/

"Our current programs hosted at Mozz are:

Italian VOYAGE*, 4 Thursdays, September 20-October 10, 6:00pm – 7:00pm"

That's odd, I though Los Monitos was gone. There's something else in their old Crescent Hill space now, anyway.

Jeff,

Los Monitos is doing very well- they've been expanding and thriving from everything I see. We looked at them for corporate language training and they were booked solid. Guessing they moved...

Kim,

Don't know the Mozz status, but getting that email if they are closed does not surprise me. Typically restaurant closings are unfortunately sudden, and a marketing mailing like that was likely prepared weeks in advance. Los Monitos may even have a service they use to send these out ; likely no one at either place would have known if there was a closure.

This story from Dallas, Chef Antonovich's last stop before here, is a bit ugly, but perhaps significant ...

Some interesting information, sounds like he's got quite a past!

Los Monitos has moved. Don't know where. Saw a sign to that effect in the window of their former Crescent Hill location, which was immediately taken over by a massage practice.

Ran into a friend of mine who worked there last night -- she definitely confirmed it's closed, all employees laid off.

http://insiderlouisville.com/news/2012/ ... it-opened/

Strange thing is, they were just hiring not that long ago

I see Mr. Coomes is of the opinion that Louisville is not a food town. Fiddle-dee-dee.

I also take umbrage at whatever Mr. Coomes is insinuating with his comment about Bill Hisle and the escorts. I have known Bill Hisle for nearly 20 years and he's a lot of things, but he's not whatever that insinuation insinuates.

Those quibbles aside, the article contains a considerable amount of insight when it's not busy trying to explain why its not throwing mud.

Controversy or not, I enjoyed Mozz during its stay and will miss that Caesar salad.
