Equus Italian Wine Dinner

Amuse Bouche- Il Follo Prosecco, Extra Dry,
From the heart of the best Prosecco producing region in all of Italy comes this fruit-forward and lively sparkler. Presecco is one of the few things Italians can agree upon and here is a good reason why: Lush apples, meyer lemon, melon and peach notes play amid lively bubbles and a fresh finish. Made by Luca Follador, a 3rd generation winemaker whose last name stems from the local verb Follare la’ Uva which means to press grapes in order to make wine.

Pork Confit, Peach Chow Chow, Fatori Danieli Soave,
The rolling hills of the Veneto just outside of Verona offer something unique in the way of soils‐ a complex mix of black volcanic rock and yellow basalt mixed with proportions of iron have created the Terrarossa, or “red earth.” This uncommon nursery is prized for producing wines of character, richness, balance and length. It is here that Antonio Fattori farms some of the finest vineyards in Northern Italy.

Watermelon Salad, feta, pine nuts, melon Vinaigrette, Ca Rossa Birbet,
A true Piedmont treat and a real rarity, the Birbet is 100% Brachetto- a local specialty that is used to make fizzy, sparkling and slightly sweet red wines. The Ca’ Rossa adds in cherries, spices and dried herbs to make a delicious elixir that is as close to an adult version of Soda Pop as it gets.

Strip Oscar, Parmesan risotto, Farnatella Lucilla Toscana,
A blend of 75% Sangiovese with about 12% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Lucilla is a seductive mix of fruit, weight, charm and elegance wrapped into a silken package. Ripe, round and distinctive, with dark black cherries and spice on the palate, lovely violet perfume on the nose and a long and full finish that is simply more than what is usually delivered in a wine at this price. “Lucilla is another beautiful wine that is particularly strong in this vintage. Did I mention it is a stunning value?” -Antonio Galloni 90 points The Wine Advocate

Caramel Ice Cream, Bricco Del Sole Moscato D’Asti,
The estate, since its establishment at th/e beginning of the XIXth Century, has always belonged to the Morando family. Even today, after many renovations, part of the cellar is still of the initial period. The aim of the producer is to improve quality by utilizing modern technology and by respecting the production area characteristics at the same time. Almost clear in color with yellow and light green hues. This moscato is deliciously fresh with floral, peach and herb notes on the nose preceding the pleasent and refreshing palate of slightly sweet pear fruit and consistent frothy bubble
