Need suggestions for tonight

by Paul S » Sat Sep 01, 2012 1:57 pm

I have some out-of-towners looking to experience the Louisville restaurant scene while watching football tonight. They've been to Boombozz and Dundee Tavern and want to try something new. This side of the river please. :mrgreen: I have a couple thoughts, but I'd like to see the board's opinion. Fire away!

BBC St. Mathews;
Great beer, bison burgers, grilled veggie sandwiches, garlic fries and lots of other selections.

TV's o-plenty

(I recommend against BBC in Theater Sq due to poor service)

One good option might be to check out bustling Nulu - walk the few blocks looking around and dive into wherever looks good. I'm a fan of Decca, La Coop, Wiltshire, Harvest, Garage Bar ... it's really hard to go wrong. Probably Rye too, although we weren't overwhelmed at lunch, I really need to go back and try it in the evening.

There are so many great picks, though. Seviche or Palermo Viejo? 610 Magnolia? Varanese or Bourbons Bistro or Volare? Equus/Jack's or Corbett's? Coal's? I'm only touching the surface here.

Umm .. when you say "watching football," you need an eatery with a big screen that's going to be tuned to sports? The bar at Volare might do that. Or BBC St. Matthews.

The Frankfort Ave. Beer Depot if you want to dive it and eat some BBQ.

We just came from lunch at Selena's at Willow Lake and they seem totally geared up for the football season. Numerous TVs showing the games, a special football menu(in addition to the regular one) and cold beer! They have a great bar area and excellent food.

Selena's is definitely a good choice and AP Crafters would be another one.

Thanks for suggestions; researching now. I would prefer if there were multiple tvs. I've had people ask me about Brick House but I've never been. I'm thinking A.P. Crafters would be a better option.

BBC St. Matts is one of my favorites. I had forgotten about A.P. Crafters, and, as it turns out, one of the people going has been wanting to try that place. Thanks again folks... may shoot for NuLu another time. :)
