River Breeze wine tasting 9/6 (+ some questions)

by Becky M » Thu Aug 30, 2012 2:07 pm

(edited to Thank Robin for giving me the go ahead on this!)

I wanted to get the word out about the River Breeze wine tasting here in Jeffersonville. I am not vested in this in any way other than my daughter's artwork will be featured there. Some of the VERY talented high school students are being given an amazing opportunity to provide art pieces to be featured. They are not professionals but great, hard-working kids with big dreams and I personally believe they have the talent to get there.

Here is info that I received in an email about the event.

River Breeze is a wine tasting event sponsored by City Pride, Jeffersonville's beautification committee. The event takes place on Thursday, September 6th on River Stage from 6PM-9PM.. Tickets are $25.00 in advance, and can be purchased from committee members, or $30.00 at the door the evening of River Breeze. I have tickets if interested. The Jeffersonville trolley will be running that evening from 5PM-10PM, and will take you to the riverfront and back. There is no charge for the trolley.

Please support our little city and our aspiring artists! Here is a little sneak peek of my daughter's piece. She's been working on this diligently into the late, late hours.........

i have never been to a wine tasting before.... i dont even drink anymore, but if my daughter's work was being featured in a cardboard box in the middle of a field, i would be there too.....

what should i expect? what type of attire?

(im hoping there is something other to drink than the pesky wine.... Diet Coke please.... easy ice....   )

Becky, at a fund-raising tasting like this, I expect dress will be business casual or just "neat," no need for party attire, but flip-flops and shorts would probably be looked down upon. ;)

No one will snob on you for bypassing the wine. Some will be designated drivers; others will have other good reasons not to care to drink, and I'm certain the organizers will take that under consideration. At a minimum, there will be plenty of water around. Probably also cheeses, maybe crackers and fruit, possibly other munchies. Put a little water in a wine glass, look happy, and you'll e good to go. :)

But seriously, wine tasting is certainly available at these events, but by no means required. :)

Thanks Robin..... I guess I could clean up a bit for this. But my Cons just might have to stay...... I might be a homeschooling-get snacks on the table-playdate attending-church on Wednesday night-cook from scratch full blown momma....... But I simply refuse to turn my cons in for sensible shoes....

I wanted to clear something up.......

The students whose work will be featured are not inexperienced "children" . These are Advanced Placement Art students that have portfolios behind them. Again, what they produce is not "refrigerator art" . Do not underestimate the talent and integrity of our youth.

Oh yeah! Advanced high-school art students, by and large, are probably better artists than many of the grown-ups in this forum. The thought of "refrigerator art" certainly hadn't occurred to me!
