Bardstown Rd. Zombie Walk Tonight

by Leann C » Wed Aug 29, 2012 1:55 pm

Robin,

I posted in the restaurant section so that more people might see it and be warned about the possible traffic delays. I've been caught in the walk while trying to get home. Side roads leading to Bardstown Rd. are also closed to through traffic. And according to the CJ article, a section of Barrett Ave. may be closed as well. Please move to the appropriate forum if this is out of place.

Click here to see a picture of the number of people. It's HUGE! The pic was taken in front of The Bristol on Bardstown Rd.

The route:
From Mid City Mall to where Bardstown meets Grinstead, onto Grinstead until you reach The Monkey Wrench!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For 2012, the Louisville Zombie Attack Walk begins at MidCity Mall on Monday, August 29th at 8PM with a Pre-Party at the Back Door. In addition, the end point has changed! This year it will be ending at the Monkey Wrench which will make the walk longer than it was before. While the walk is on a Wednesday, it is a tradition for the Louisville Zombie Walk to be on August 29 regardless of the day, rain or shine. This year, the Louisville Zombie Attack Walk is again trying for the Guinness Book World Record of LARGEST Zombie Walk in the WORLD.

No worries, Leann. In fact, I appreciate your thinking of that. :)

I think Bardstown Rd is probably going to be a "nightmare" from around 7ish (when they start arriving and staging at Mid-City Mall) until around 10ish. My best guess at least.

The walkers stop frequenlly and do all sorts of coreographed dances to Michael Jackson's Thriller etc. So it doesn't move very quickly.

....Looks like Barrett & Winter right around the Monkey Wrench could be messy until the party ends around 2am. If they have a 1000+ people, there's no way they won't spill over into the streets.

I have a headcold or I'd probably go check out the action (on foot).

Be safe everyone! Something wicked this way comes. Zombies!

Two or three years ago, when the Zombie Walk hadn't grown into quite what it is today, we were in a window seat along Bardstown Road in Seviche when crowds of zombies started walking by, many of them falling up against the window to claw helplessly toward what was on our plates. It was hilarious! But nothing in the world like the crowds in that picture!

It's certainly not bad kids ... one year we were training acolytes at St. Matthew's and a couple of very sweet, sharp teen-agers got on their blood makeup and bandages and went straight from the church to the Zombie Walk.

Yeah. It's good harmless fun. I know lots of people walking and have never heard of any issues except for the traffic snarls.

Dang, it finally penetrated my little pea brain that we were planning to dive right into the epicenter for dinner tonight.

I don't mind the zombies - in fact, I think they're fun. But I also think driving in and trying to park would be a zombie zoo.

Maybe Frankfort Avenue or Nulu or St. Matthews instead ...

Got this among my pix from tonight's Zombie Walk - looks like he's holding a regional southern dish?

Okay. Sick as a dog. Still couldn't stand to miss out on any sort of hubbub. We walked down to The Tap Room to watch the action. I actually saw the chef guy in the pic above. I dubbed him "Chef Boy Zombie Ardee"
