Destin

by Mark A » Thu Aug 16, 2012 5:44 pm

I posted this over on the travel board with not success so I thought I would try here. I'm in Destin for the first time and could use some restaurant recommendations. We're not big meat eaters, I don't eat any, but do like fish. Any suggestion so much appreciated.

We stay on 30A and never venture to Destin.
If you take a day trip over to 30A, Red Bar, Bud & Alleys, Cafe 30A are standards. New places are The View (Santa Rosa Beach Club), The V, Whiskey Bravo 723.

Here's trip advisor reviews on Destin. (I found the hotel reviews are accurate.)

Hey Mark,

Same as Ellen, we always stay on 30A. So I can't help much with Destin recommendations.
This link will take you to the South Walton local food & dining forum. It's similar to Hotbytes.
Post your question there & get advice from the locals.

Fat Clemenza's!!!
We went to Destin a few years ago, and we're still talking about that meal.
It's Italian it is (or was) in a strip mall. It's non-pretentious, it's owned by true Italian Italians and the food is to die for! The garlic knots will make you weepy...the lasagna will make you sing...and the fettucine will make you cry...
I would go there every week if we lived there.

The Red Bar's sister restaurant, Louie Louie, is on 98 east of Sandestin, on the north side. You try it. And they have crab cakes every night and happy hour:-)
Can't wait to go back:-)

As far as Destin goes my favs are: Mcguires Brewery and Pub has fairly nice steaks and I always get the 10ct. Bean Soup also Old Bay Steamer has never let me down. Callahagns for comfort food and Helenback for pizza. If your down the South Walton way (30A) I frequent Pandoras in Grayton Beach, try the bar menu out back if your looking for more reasonable selections the French Dip is awesome. Cafe Thirty-A and Goat Feathers both have killer early dining specials. Maries Bistro and Stinkys are also fun. If your up for breakfast, Don Pedros is hands down the best in my opinion. Have fun!

It all sounds a bit emotional! I would be an emotional wreck by dessert

It's true, it is a bit emotional. The dessert wasn't that great though.
(we took cannolis to go and were underwhelmed)
Everything is else is so good though, it's worth the emotional rollercoaster!
