Shiraz Mediterranean Grill's NEW location in Holiday Manor

by Rob_DeLessio » Fri Nov 09, 2007 3:16 pm

Wow, the new restaurant is open for business. Holiday Manor Walk, 426-9954. Hours are the same as the Frankfort Avenue location, 11:30-9 M-Thurs, & 11:30-10pm Fri, Sat. Closed Sunday.
It is just as colorful, but much more spacious than Frankfort Ave. Hope everyone enjoys another great place to eat "crazy good food" in the east end.

We were thinking of getting take out from here tonight, but I can't find their menu online. I know they used to have a website - anyone know what it is?

I have been here twice. Really good. In fact my family has enjoyed every dish we've had here. Fresh tasting!

Thank you! I ended up calling the restaurant for it, but I couldn't get to it directly from the address screen without putting in the 'www'. I haven't had that issue in ages, so never even thought to try it until you sent the link. Thank you again! : o)

They haven't missed a thing here. They have a small refrigerated section with some treats in it for take home. Who would have thought that Holiday Manor would be a foodie destination ever? Had the weird sensation of picking up take out from Mojito, Shiraz and Thai Cafe all in one round last week. A short hop over the Watterson on U.S. 42 and Shady Lane Cafe, The Gasthaus and Mike Best Meats beckon. I'm fully in support of reducing my carbon footprint with those choices so close by.

Just a bit of history about the "father" of Shiraz.

Way back in the day.... we lived next door to a Persian guy who owned an Oriental/Persian Rug store. Young Mr. D and his new bride would invite us over for a Persian meal that another Persian gentleman had prepared and sold to him from his house. (Back then you were always guaranteed the crispy bottom of the rice pot).

This man would make full sheet pans of "Napoleon" and sell them to friends and family. We used to get them too!

Anyway, I had heard that Shiraz had Napoleon as a dessert from time to time, and I wanted some! The first bite... I knew that taste! I told the owner that I liked it, and he said "my father made it"! Shock ensued as I asked "what's your father's name"?, and he replied with the answer that was swirling around in my Head "Atah"! That was him, that was the same man that I bought Napoleon from some 18 years before!! That is what I consider amazing, and fantastic!

Now he and his sons have Shiraz, an obvious dream and passion from days gone by! Good for them!! I wish them all the best for a delicious future!!!

If you have not had the Napoleon... you must... it ranks right up there with the goat cheese flan made by our friend Fernando!
