Quizno's Price Increase

by Bill Veneman » Fri Nov 09, 2007 12:44 pm

I just had a rather expensive shock at Quizno's at 4th and Broadway. Went for my usual Reg. Black Angus Sub Combo, and it was $10.37  , as opposed to $8.53 last week. Manager said there was more meat on the sandwich (which there was), but still, it was a bit of shock at the register. $10 for a sandwich, chips and a drink is not a good value in my book.
If life's a Banquet, what's with all the Tofu?

Cheers!

not the only ones

Seems like several restaurants are raising prices - Subway and Wendy's increased their prices earlier this year and I've heard that others are planning to. I'm sure the high oil prices are causing food costs to go up and the restaurants are passing on those costs to the customers in order to maintain margins. It seems that the independents and small chains would be affected the most since they don't have the same pull with their suppliers and can't lock in future prices, but at some point everyone's going to be paying the higher prices. Either Wendy's, Subway, and Quizno's management dropped the ball on futures or their raising prices in anticipation of higher food costs (kind of like our local gas stations taking advantage of every excuse to quickly raise prices). Unfortunately, unlike gas stations, I doubt the restaurants will ever lower prices if their food costs decrease again in the future.

Not only do rising gas prices result in increased shipping/delivery costs, but the dedication of so much of the corn crop to ethanol has spiked corn prices as well. And corn is what feeds (most of) the beef.

Darn -- now I can't eat at SubwayWendysQuiznos any longer.

Wait ... I generally don't already.

Never mind.

Perhaps there is another explanation why your Black Angus sandwich was so shockingly priced...

WOW!!!! I guess that you don't go to the grocery either!...
Wholesale food prices have jumped anywhere from 8%(for produce) to 15% for meat and even more for seafood ,or other certian items..In the past few months....
It doesn't surprise me at all that you had to pay more for your big sandwich!
I hate to be the harbinger of bad tidings, but the $5.00 lunch is a thing of the past the way things are going...(unless of course you eat Fast Food)

My jaw is constantly dropping when I see newsreporters on TV reporting that the high gas prices haven't changed our day to day living or habits. Somebody isn't paying attention.
