Bacon Jam?

by Mark R. » Fri Aug 03, 2012 4:44 pm

I've had the Benton's Bacon Jam at the Anchorage Cafe on a Turkey sandwich and it's wonderful! I've found lots of recipes on how to make it but it sounds like a pain and has a relatively short shelf life. The only place I've found that sells it is Sur-la-Table. Does anyone know any place local where we can find it?

AP Crafters. Westport Rd. & Herr Lane. We make tons of it. Talk to Chef James or Chef Lucas & I'll bet they will sell you all you may need.

I've used this recipe a fews times with great results and little headache.

Anchorage Cafe puts it on their pimento cheese sandwich, which was okay, but I felt kind of offended about them tinkering with tradition.

I saw that but like you thought about tradition. It was great on the Turkey sandwich however!

If you really like great pimento cheese you need to try Palmetto pimento cheese :!: It's handmade in South Carolina. The only place locally I know that carries it is Wal-Mart at the present time. It's certainly worth a trip they are to get some. They have three flavors, traditional, jalapeno and bacon.
