Fiedler Farm's Jim Fiedler is retiring

"Going Out Of Business Sale"... Fiedler Family Farms

Good Eating,

I will be at the Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church parking lot (same location as the BRFM) this coming Thursday, July 26th from 4 PM to 6 PM to delivery your orders. I am now on every other week delivery schedule.

I am retiring. My daughter Amy visited for 4 days last week. Amy is an organic vegetable farmer outside Boone, NC so her comment on the last day was meaningful when she said, “I now understand why you compare retiring from farming to leaving he mafia!” One crisis after another is the way of life on a farm. How I wish some days that I could just clean out my desk, turn off the computer and wave to the dogs & chickens as I drive away!!!!

Right now my biggest problem is a build up of certain cuts of meat since I don’t go to any farmers markets anymore... but I still have meat accumulating as I wind down the operation. One solution was the whole pig sale and I sold 19 or 20 pigs thanks to all of you who took a chance on a new adventure for you. Please tell your friends that I might do it again in a few weeks depending on the number of pigs I have left.

Meanwhile I will offer my surplus at 1/2 price as it reaches a year in the freezer (I have no concerns eating it 2 or 3 years old myself since it has remained frozen) and “ buy 2/get a 3rd free” when I have extra boxes that are more recent. I also will put bundles together on special. I will continue to sell ground beef but need to raise the price to 5 for $25 since I am running out and want everyone to have a chance to buy it.

Please email me if you want a copy of my price list which includes most (but not all) of my pork & beef cuts that I normally have in stock. The price list can also be found on my never-finished website at http://www.FiedlerFamilyFarms.com/pricelist.pdf

***************************************************************************************

Thanks again for your support.

For those of you who patronize Adam Barr, he has some of those Fiedler swine, and will be getting into the pork business soon.

Some of us, we who know and love Jim and his perfect meats, are refusing to let him retire. OK, mostly it is me. I've never claimed to be unselfish. Watching the devoted swarm over the parking lot at BRFM on a thursday afternoon like a pack of zombies after a boatload of babies should leave little doubt this man is doing things right with his animals. He is running a heck of a sale right now. And I am actually considering buying a chest freezer.
