Reccomendations for party-style get together

by Beth K. » Thu Nov 08, 2007 12:37 pm

I'm looking for a place to have a get together in a couple of months with a not-yet-determined number of people. I'm guessing around 30. I'm hoping to avoid planning/cleaning up for a house party so thought it would be best to just go out. I'm leaning towards a bar or bar-like atmosphere because I expect it to be people dropping in for a drink, people showing up late, and people hanging out for a very long time. (In other words, I don't want to take up a table(s) at an establishment that will be upset about it.) I also want people to be comfortable to mingle and not feel like they have to stay seated so they won't confuse a server. Alcohol is a must with this group. Some place with food would be good. Places that have come to mind are Bearno's on Bardstown Road and Clifton's, although Clifton's may be a little small. Oh, and this is going to be on a weekend. I would appreciate any suggestions on places. Thanks!

What about the "Sky Bar" that is upstairs from Saints in St. Matthews? It's been awhile, but I've been to a couple of parties there and it's a nice set up. There are seating areas with club chairs and sofas. They also have food. The only issue is that I believe you have to buy a membership to use the place. I seem to remember that the fee is $250, but I could be completely mistaken. Here's the link with contact info. There's no mention of the membership fee:

Leann,
I just looked through the web site and it appears you have to be a member and that there is a membership fee. If you look at the membership application it shows how you can pay the fee monthly. It also talks about the membership fee in the section about rules of membership. It appears you can get an individual or a corporate membership.

Overall it looks like a nice place, where in Saint Matthews is it? Obviously I don't know where Saints is either.

Saints is in the old Jake & Elwoods location in St. Matthews Station. Breckinridge Lane 1/2 block south of Shelbyville Rd. on the East side of the street.

60 West Martini Bar and Bistro (formerly Cafe Emily) sounds like the place you are looking for. They have an extensive beer and Martini list and a room that is usually availabe for parties . The food there is also a big plus- Kevin Smith's new menu is delicious.

Have you thought about New Albanian Brewing Company? (Formerly Rich O's in New Albany) We had our wedding reception there, and it was absolutely ideal. Talk to Reva. She's in charge of their events planning, and she was absolutely wonderful to work with.
