Frankfort Avenue Progressive Dinner Aug. 7

Chef Michael Crouch of Bourbons Bistro, Chef Josh Moore of Volare and Chef John Varanese of Varanese will collaborate on a second Frankfort Avenue Progressive Dinner on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The evening will begin with an appetizer at Volare, followed by the before they proceed to the entrée at Varanese, ending with dessert at Bourbons Bistro. A door prize from Secrets boutique will be given during dessert.

Choice of Appetizers
Rotollini di Melanzane
Baked rolls of eggplant with ricotta, marinara and a balsamic reduction

Gnocchi alla Anatra
Potato gnocchi, roasted duck, caramelized leeks,
and applewood bacon in a Gorgonzola cream

Choice of Entrees
Pecan encrusted mahi mahi atop whipped sweet potatoes
finished with a honey butter sauce

Bourbon barrel smoked pork chop topped with an apple-bacon chutney
served with a gratin potato

Bourbon barrel smoked salmon and linguine tossed with sundried tomatoes,
baby spinach and capers in a goat cheese cream sauce
Chili rubbed flat iron steak sliced atop pickled cucumber, watermelon
and heirloom tomatoes with roasted Peruvian potatoes and chimichurri

Choice of Desserts
Bourbon peach bread pudding

Bluegrass black bottom bourbon baba

The cost of the three course dinner is $50 per person, which includes tax and tip. Reservations will be taken for start times between 5 and 7 p.m., allowing diners to proceed to each course as they choose. Seating is limited. For reservations call 894-4446.

Yum, and a fun idea!

Anybody know what they do about wine? I'm assuming you can't walk with a glass down the street ( though that would be very cool!). Can you bring a bottle from Volare to Varanese ( without being illegal, or rude?)

Good question! I don't know the procedure on this event, Deb, but thinking about Kentucky's weird liquor laws, the good news is that you could certainly take out a part-finished bottle from Volare, provided it is sealed in a bag with the receipt (you know the drill); BUT you could not legally bring in and consume your own wine at Varanese.

That's the law. ;)

You'd have to ask discreetly about the practice.
