First, I like Steve Clements and never had a bad meal at Avalon. However, my lunch experience in 2006 at the Derby Cafe was so bad I wrote a review on Trip Advisor. I have been back twice to almost the same experience- hot brown tasted like it was topped with Campbell's soup. Cod was dry and cold. I took some clients' wives to the museum and cafe and was really embarrassed about the food, though service was better. They have cutesy names for the dishes and the prices aren't bad, but the food was consistently substandard. I hope the new team puts a CHEF in there and improves the quality. JMHO.
