Guaca Mole and Mayan Cafe

by David Lange » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:40 am

I had the pleasure of dining at both of these gems the past week and I wanted to give props to these 2 true Latino artisans. Both Fernando and Bruce are passionate about their food and it shows in the way they craft their food and present it. No high priced entrees here, just food that is flavorful, innovative and an adventure in dining. For example, last night 6 of us went to the Mayan Cafe for dinner. We had drinks, apps, entrees, 2 bottles of wine and desserts for $300. Plus the food and service were on point. Just wanted to give them the credit they deserve. Keep up the great work..

David-
Thought that was you. We were at Mayan Cafe the same night. I was the woman hobbling on crutches.

We also found the service to be excellent and the food great. Bruce's favors are always great and I find his pricing to be very fair, particularly as he uses so many local meats. Everything we had was great- only issue we had was that we couldn't take home the leftovers ( 2 entrees and an app were too much food- we could have split an entree). We were going to the theatre and the thought of the food left in a car for several hours in 100+ degree heat didn't sound like a good idea... When we commented on that to our server, she actually offered to store our leftovers for us for us to pick up after the show. Now THAT"s exemplorary service!

I agree completely with both of the above. I have been to Bruces restaurants often and a couple of times to Guac a Mole. Also to Havana Rumba when Fernando had it.

Service, food, and value at both are excellent.

Hope both have a long and successful run.
