What a terrible loss to everyone in the food and dining community and most of all to his family. I know he loved them deeply and it will leave a hole in their lives that will never be filled. We will all miss him.

Dan was always a wonderful supporter of us. I will miss our wonderful talks and his shoulder to lean on during the hard times. I unfortunately never met his family, however I felt like we knew them from our talks. He loved them dearly and my heart goes out to all of them. My prayers are with his family and friends. Charlie and I will miss him greatly.

About a year ago I posted a 'waiter needs job' here and Dan Boyle sent me several emails- seems like each time he visited a restaurant, he'd inquire to the owners if they needed help- I never met him face to face, but we had nice correspondance thru the net- I thought at the time, and told him so- that that was a very nice thing to do- in his attempt to help me-
I didn't really know him but felt like I did- I could tell he enjoyed what he did-
I'm so sorry to hear of his death- I often wonder why nice people have to leave so quickly.
Good thoughts and special prayers for his family- :(

Wow!! I have been so busy with everything going on that I haven't logged in for a while, and I miss some terrible news. From the first days of The Bluegrass Bistro, Dan has been a major support not only of our little hidden restaurant, but also of myself and Chef Tony Lorie. Even down to about a month ago when he called just to check and see if everything was OK 'cause he had heard someone say that we may be closing (which is not the case).
Dan was a super guy that I will never forget. Robin and John, if there is ANYTHING that I can do to help out with any benifit for his family, all you have to do is say the word.....

For those who did not see the CJ obituary, the above information was included.

I am aware of that. I just thought it would be a good idea to repeat it because people were saying they wanted to help. This is a reminder that this is an excellent way to do so.

Okay, fine. I was just curious why you thought it was important to credit the Gannett Courier-Journal for information that was already available right here on the forum.
