Apron "Speakeasy Sunday" fundraiser tickets now available!

by Dan Thomas » Mon May 14, 2012 12:27 pm

On Sunday, June 3, 2012, APRON, Inc., a non-profit group whose mission is to assist members of Louisville’s Independent Restaurant Community with emergency relief funds, is hosting its first fundraiser.

Put on your favorite flapper dress or zoot suit and step back into the roaring 20’s while enjoying delicious cocktails, savory dishes and desserts from some of Louisville’s top restaurants, including:

Against The Grain-Chef Reed Johnson
Asiatique-Chef Nicholas Lynch
Avalon-Chefs Michael Hargrove & Patrick Roney
Bad Girl of Bourbon-Mixologist Joy Perrine
Bourbon’s Bistro-Chef Michael Crouch
Bluegrass Brewing Co.
Dish on Market
Equus & Jack’s Lounge-Chef Tavis Rockwell
Gary's on Spring-Chef Harold Baker
Louisville Dessert Truck –Chef Leah Stewart
Majid’s-Mixologist Stephan Dennison
Martini's Italian Bistro
NA Exchange-Chef Rick Adams
Porcini-Tim Coury & Chef John Plymale
St. Charles Exchange
Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern
Seviche-Chef Anthony Lamas
Science Hill Inn-Chef Ellen Gill-McCarthy
Southern Wine & Spirits
Taco Punk-Chef Gabe Sowder
Theater Square Marketplace-Chef Dallas McGarity
Volare-Chef Joshua Moore
Winston’s-Chefs John Castro & Tyson Long

With more restaurants signing up to participate every day, Speakeasy Sunday is going to be an event to remember! Several of the participating chefs will be kidnapped during the event and friends and guests will have to pay a ransom to secure their release from captivity. There will also be an exciting silent auction, which will include items such as an original photograph by Pulitzer Prize-Winning photographer Dan Dry, a Bourbon Cocktail Class for 20 people with “Bad Girl of Bourbon” Joy Perrine, and more! Plus, local artists, including Nick Owens and Nick Baute, have been enlisted to design original artistic aprons for the event which will also be up for auction. All proceeds will benefit APRON, Inc.

The event will be held from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 at Theatre Square Marketplace at 651 South 4th Street. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased on the APRON, Inc. website at http://www.aproninc.org.

Personally, I consider this the deepest of honors- more important than a James Beard Award.

Gary,

I've been spreading the word and was asked the following by a friend:
Is there a way for people who don't like to purchase on-line to buy tickets?

Thanks!

Hey Deb,
I'm not sure if anyone responded to you or not by PM but I wanted to address this. Apron is meeting tomorrow and we will discuss this issue. We may have some restaurants selling tickets or you can send us a check and we can hold a ticket at the door.
Thanks for your support!

One of the important things we discussed at our meeting that wasn't addressed in the press release, is we are also now accepting payment by check to purchase tickets. We didn't account for people that are leery of using their credit or debit cards online and others that may not be so tech savvy. Payment for tickets can be submitted by check to:
APRON Inc.
291 N. Hubbards Lane
Ste. B26-266
Louisville, KY 40207

We are limiting the number of tickets to 300. Priced at only $25, we expect to sell out quickly. However, if we still have tickets available, there may be a limited amount for sale at the door
