Boone's Farm Blue Hawaiian: Wine or Windex? :D

by Robin Garr » Mon May 07, 2012 9:59 am

I posted this on Facebook, thinking it was too silly for these more serious quarters, but it got so many good responses that I thought I’d let the forum in on the fun, too.

I spotted it at Walgreen's and was intrigued immediately (but not enough to buy it!) I remembered Boone’s Farm from my youth, of course, but I never before saw one what was Windex color! Is it "wine" or is it window detergent? (Actually, it’s a wine-cooler-like “malt beverage,” not that there’s anything right with that.)

Have any of you ever knowingly consumed this product? If so, 'fess up, with tasting notes!

Finally, just for fun, here’s a great spoof from the Phoenix New Times:

Well....er....ahem....there was once this Night Owl convenience store and, er, ahem, the night shift guy wasn't so strict about IDs and,, er...um. OK, we drank caseloads of the stuff back in high school. And Little Kings Cream Ale! Giga-gallons of the stuff.

There. I said it.

The Blue Hawaiian? It's a recent addition to the line.

Oh, it can be! I just thought it was fun that their new Big Blue brand looks so much like Windex.

It is my understanding that drinkin' wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee now requires Blue Hawaiian chased with Bud Light Lime-A-Rita, then more Blue Hawaiian. Or maybe it was the other way around.

We have a standing rule at my stores. If a customer purchases Boones Farm, they get ID'd regardless of age. My thinking is most people should stop drinking it when they are old enough to legally drink.
