Long John Silver’s seafood restaurants and its advertising partner, Creative Alliance, are casting their nets for local talent to appear in a new national television commercial promoting the return of Long John Silver’s Thick Cut Cod.
All fans, friends, and customers of Long John Silver’s are being recruited to serve as extras in a 15 and 30-second commercial which will be shot on Monday, May 7 at the Long John Silver’s at 4214 Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews. Anyone interested in participating is asked to be at the restaurant at 8 am (EDT) to register and sign a release. The production team hopes to register between 300 and 500 extras.
As part of the outreach of the program, Long John Silver’s will donate $10 per registered extra* to its national charitable partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The charity raises funds and awareness for 170 local children’s hospitals across North America, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. The Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Louisville is Kosair Children’s Hospital.
In addition, each registered extra will receive a $10 Gift Card** to the Long John Silver’s restaurant of their choice.
“We think this is a fun way to engage our current and potential customers as well as celebrate our new collaboration with Creative Alliance as our agency of record,” said Long John Silver’s CEO Mike Kern. “We are two Louisville companies who want to find interesting and unique ways to contribute to the community in which we live and work.”

advertising and promotion for Long John Silver’s, Inc., the largest quick serve seafood chain in America. The new commercial promotes the return of a recent and very successful launch for the restaurant’s Thick-Cut Cod and features the announcement that “Thick is Back!” The commercial will run throughout the country from May 28 through July 29.
