APRON Inc Silent Auction Request to Forumites

by Melissa Richards-Person » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:28 pm

Good morning and happy Derby week to all!

Some of you have heard/seen postings on the forum about APRON,Inc; a 501c3 organization whose genesis was on HotBytes, among Forumites who came together to support a number of "our own" in the industry who were hit by unexpected hard times - health issues, robbery, etc. Inspired by MERF, we have formalized our mission to provide temporary, limited financial relief to professional food and beverage industry workers in the Louisville, KY metro area who work at locally owned establishments and who are experiencing financial distress due to illness, injury or other issues.

We're getting ready for our first fundraiser "Speakeasy Sunday" on June 3 from 4-7pm (more on that to follow), and I'm leading up the silent auction. This event will be attended by passionate foodies and friends of the industry, and so we're trying to make the auction a little different, understanding the audience. While we appreciate anything that people are willing to donate, we hope that owners, managers and others affiliated with the industry consider the movement behind this organization, and provide something unique, special, and more personal. We believe our organization’s mission is unique – to provide a direct, immediate helping hand, something that they receive nowhere else – we hope that you will consider a unique experience that an auction bidder could receive nowhere else – a class, tasting, chef’s dinner, behind-the-scenes tour or other unique “something.” Please PM me with questions, details and any and all donation options.

Thanks, Robin for the OK to post - we'd appreciate if you made this "sticky" following Derby so no one misses it! Look for more info on the fundraiser - tickets, etc. coming just after Derby!
